On top of all his professional achievements, Wednesday saw multiple reports suggesting that the Spaniard and his wife Maria Francisca ‘Xisca’ Perello are going to become parents for the first time.

Speaking with Tennis Channel on Thursday, former World No. 1 Andy Roddick congratulated Nadal’s entire family on the news. The American also said that such an event is a lot more important than tennis.

According to reports, Nadal will reveal the decision about his Wimbledon participation on Friday. After winning his record-extending 14th French Open title earlier in June, the 36-year-old had announced he would undergo treatment to try and ease the pain in his foot before Wimbledon.

Nadal was seen using crutches after the first session of his treatment, but he also started practicing behind closed doors soon after.

Speaking about Rafael Nadal’s foot condition and whether he is likely to play in London later this month, Roddick praised the Spaniard’s game on grass and stated that he would like to see him compete at SW19.
