So wouldn’t it be fun to muck it up a bit? Mods are a good way to customize a game to fit the player’s particular tastes, so why not take a dark fantasy world like Dark Souls III and make it a bit more lighthearted, fun, and jovial? Why not inject more humor into it? That’s why today, we are going to list 10 Dark Souls III mods that are absolutely hilarious. Players who wish to download any can find them all on Nexus Mods.
10 Prepare To Dank Edition
The Prepare to Dank Edition mod is fairly self-explanatory as far as mods go. It populates your Dark Souls III game with the dankest of memes under the sun, from Doge, to Mountain Dew, to Peppa Pig. There’s no more dank Dark Souls game than this, and players are left to wonder why the original version of this game wasn’t as dank
Nexus Mod user Terry29291 is the artisan behind this masterpiece of digital media. Fans should all be so lucky to be as inspired as this modder.
9 Death Count V2
Ever wanted to know just how badly a current Dark Souls III playthrough is going? Well, the Death Count V2 by davinxy01 is here to make gamers feel just a little bit worse about themselves. This Mod is as simple as it sounds: it keeps track of every death.

In addition to destroying self-esteem, this mod is also effective for those who are looking to improve their Dark Souls III game. It’s funny to think about the game abusing the player with the number of times they’ve died to the skeleton wheels or been petrified by a basilisk, but this is actually a fairly useful tool for the more hardcore Dark Souls III players.
8 Adidas Tracksuit Mod
Look, sometimes the Fallen Knight and Firekeeper armor sets just aren’t stylish enough. Sometimes, the player just wants to look like a Brooklyn podcaster, and the Adidas Tracksuit Mod has them covered there. It replaces the Clandestine Coat and Mirrah Trousers with the top and bottom of an Adidas Tracksuit, keeping the Ashen One looking athletic and stylish.
This mod was uploaded by user corea6072 and authored by ymfah. Don’t forget to go for a morning jog around Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.
7 Vulgar Death And Bonfire Message Replacement
These are actually two different mods by different Nexus users. The exact text replacement for either can’t be written here (but can be seen via the links to the mods themselves). That said, both are pretty funny and capture how many players actually feel when they die and light a bonfire in Dark Souls III.
The first mod, the Vulgar Death Message Replacement, was authored and uploaded by user Thracca. The second, the Vulgar Bonfire Text Replacement mod, comes from ProfCocoa.
6 Thanks Obama
Though this meme is fairly dated (by two literal presidential administrations now), it’s still worth a solid chuckle.
The Thanks Obama mod replaces the “You Died” text from the Dark Souls III death screen with the phrase “Thanks Obama,” which may just get gamers to crack a grin next time Pontiff Sulyvahn manages to take them out. This one comes to fans from Nexus user Nick Kerttula.
5 Enemy Onslaught
There are those that feel that Dark Souls III just isn’t difficult enough as is, which may seem mad to some fans. However, there’s nothing wrong with constantly trying to improve one’s game. Thankfully, there are mods out that suit this idea.
The Enemy Onslaught mod is suited for this idea. It allows a player to duplicate every enemy in the game, bosses included, up to four times. However, it makes this list because the thought of a trio of Yhorms charging at the Ashen One with murder in their eyes is pretty darn funny. This mod comes from user TKGP and requires the UXM mod, also from TKGP.
4 Blessed Gesture
Fortnite is downright inescapable, and even Dark Souls III isn’t safe from a Fortnite reference or two. With the Blessed Gesture mod, the player can replace the default bow emote from Dark Souls III with the default dance from Fortnite.
This mod was uploaded to Nexus by user projectgreylake and was authored by Itzli. Furthermore, it requires the aforementioned UXM mod by TKGP or the DS3 Mod Engine by Katalash to install.
3 Poorly Translated Edition
The translations in Dark Souls have been studied by those interested in the lore over the years in order to see if any secrets are hidden in how things may have changed from Japanese to English. Well, players can now make things even more confusing for themselves with the Poorly Translated Edition mod to Dark Souls III by SullivanMcBlueberry.

This mod takes all the text from Dark Souls III, runs it through Google Translate several times in different languages, and puts the end result back into the game. Players can just accept that they’ll never know the true meaning of it all. This mod also puts in new voiceovers to complete the jumbled experience.
2 Modern Firearms (Call Of Souls: Modern Warfare III)
Ever wish it was possible to just blow the Fire Witches from Irithyll of the Boreal Valley away like an Arnold Schwarzenegger character? Look no further. The Modern Firearms (aka Call of Souls: Modern Warfare III) mod adds actual guns to Dark Souls III. Now players can cure the Undead Curse with hot lead once and for all.
Who needs great hammers, longbows, and ultra greatswords when there are guns? This delightfully deranged mod was uploaded by user asasasasasbc and authored by Forsakensilver.
1 Pocket Souls
Finally, it’s possible to just turn Dark Souls III into Pokemon. The player can capture enemy mobs and use them to fight other foes in one-on-one combat. So drop those katanas and crossbows, and pick up a Pokeball.
Pocket Souls adds new weapons, armor, items, boss battles, and even trainer battles to the game. It is an expansive addition to the game thanks to Nexus mod user AngusIsLove. This one is both hilarious and ambitious, and it’s hard to think of a better mod with which to finish out this list.
